ELECTION CAMPAIGNS ARE STARTING An Opinion By Jan Bergemann Published April 14, 2026
It’s
this time of the year again: Election campaign events are starting.
Everybody, including all folks who can vote, should make a note of
the dates for elections: PRIMARY ELECTION: August 18, 2026 GENERAL ELECTION: NOVEMBER 3, 2026
Since we are working on improving community association laws, we should check out the candidates for Florida office:
We should concentrate on the senate candidates, considering the fact that the Senate killed this year all owner-friendly community association bills. It’s time we vote some candidates into office that work for us, the citizens and property owners, and not the so-called “industry”, led by attorneys and community association managers, who finance their campaign with money they made from community associations.
Ask the candidates running in your district directly how they feel about community association law, especially creating laws to make it much easier to enforce the existing laws and laws that would finally help to go after the bad actors that are costing owners of property in community associations millions of dollars each year.
If you go to campaign events, please ask the candidates directly if they would strongly support owner-friendly community association legislation. Make sure you video-tape their answers with your cell-phone, so we have the responses on file for future references.
If you get positive – or negative – responses, please let me know, so we can endorse the right candidates in the end. Voting for the right candidates will help us in next year’s legislative session when we want to push for serious reforms again! |
