The master condo association for Trump Towers I, II and
III in Sunny Isles has filed a lawsuit against developers Related Group and
Dezer Development, alleging that construction work at the 271-unit
development was subpar.
Unit owners of the towers at 18001 Collins Ave. claim
that numerous defects are direct results of “improper design and/or
construction” by the developers, according to the lawsuit, which was filed
April 12.
Units in the condo,
completed in 2008, are priced $875,000 - $4.1 million. The
Trump name was licensed from developer and presidential
candidate Donald Trump, who was not involved in developing
the project.
Listed as defendants are TRG, an entity formed by Related
and Dezer to develop the towers; general contractor John
Moriarty & Associates; architecture firm Sieger Suarez
Architects; and engineering firms CHM Structural Enginers
LLC and Steven Feller P.E.
In an email statement, Dezer Development said it had not
been served a lawsuit but has been “working amicably with
the association to resolve” repair claims “that are typical
in the turn-over [sic] of every condo development.”
Related also declined to comment on the litigation through
an email statement, saying only that it had not been served
any lawsuit involving Trump Towers.
Another project developed by Related and built by John
Moriarty & Associates has also suffered from complaints
about construction defects. In January, the condo
associations at Icon Brickell sued Moriarity over allegedly
faulty construction throughout the site. Its massive rooftop
pool is expected to be closed for at least another year for
repairs. |
