FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- St. Lucie County code enforcement officers are visiting a gated community Tuesday morning where homeowners are fed up and ready to fight. Some of the residents say their HOA is cutting corners and putting their safety at risk.

Neighbors say they were promised a 24-hour security guard in their Fort Pierce neighborhood, but all they have now is an automatic gate with a code. There is exposed concrete on the playground and the locks don’t work at the 6-foot deep community pool. One pool gate doesn't even latch.

The community was built in 2007, and the upset neighbors say they are paying more than $100 a month in HOA dues. They want change before it is too late.

CBS 12 did reach out to the property management group several times and they have not yet returned our calls.
