Tallahassee -- Condo owners are one step closer to being protected from getting thrown out of their homes.

For the past 2 years, 10 Investigates has been exposing a loophole in a state law allowing a corporation to force out homeowners at low ball prices.

The current law allows a corporation to gain control of the condo complex and 10 Investigates has been following a group of Palm Harbor condo owners through their battle.

After seeing our investigations Clearwater state Sen. Jack Latvala proposed a bill which would close the loophole and on Tuesday the bill cleared one Senate committee and now has to go to another.

A similar bill sponsored by Clearwater Rep. Chris Sprowls is proceeding through the House.
