Homeowners Association Dispute Turns Into A Brawl
(CBS4)
WEST KENDALL You've seen how loud and rambunctious hundreds
of residents can get when they are furious with a Homeowners
Association they claim to never have agreed to, but you haven't seen
anything yet.
As CBS4 cameras rolled at a meeting between residents and the
attorney representing the homeowners' association for the Bird Lakes
development, a fight broke out. In previous meetings hundreds of
neighbors complained in unity about what they say is the surprise
appearance of a homeowners' association along with fees tagged on.
In Wednesday afternoon's meeting however, it was neighbor v.
neighbor, when some accused others of siding with the attorney
representing the much despised association.
"I want to personally apologize if the fact that the letter you
received the first time caused you distress," said Attorney
Phillip Shechter.
Shechter was appointed by the county to administer the association
and advise residents of what is going on until residents are able to
take over the association themselves, but his words seemed to be
drowned out by the fight between a group of men, which was quickly
broken up.
