LAUDERHILL,
Fla. -- It was pouring outside and inside the International Village
Condominiums in Lauderhill Thursday morning.
There was rain in the hallways and
a soggy mess in Richard and Sophia Kurtz's home.
Kurtz feverishly tried to salvage her shoes
and clothes. The Kurtzes say it started with a leak above the stove
around 2 am. As each hour passed, more and more rain made its way
inside.
The building they live in, the Heidelberg, is
under roof repair from Hurricane Wilma. The roofing company is
Pegasus Construction out of Deerfield Beach. Kurtz said the company
is doing a poor job. |

"What have they done? All they do is bang, bang, bang on
the roof and they haven't fixed a thing. We are not the only ones who have water
damage in our homes," he said.
Tom Derington, with Pegasus, said the company is doing the
best they can. However, once they assessed the damage they realized the roof was
in worse shape than they were told. He said the building is old and with permits
and paperwork the job is tough.
Property Manager Hector Lopez with the Continental Group
stands behind the company. He said they hired Continental two days after
Hurricane Wilma and they have been working on the flat roofs ever since.
But the Kurtzes do not buy that story, saying they did not
work fast enough. Their furniture is ruined and until the fire department says
so, their electricity must stay shut off.
