GOVERNOR BUSH SIGNS REPRESENTATIVE
JULIO ROBAINA’S
CONDOMINIUM
ASSOCIATION BILL |
TALLAHASSEE-
Governor Jeb Bush today signed into law a bill regarding condominium
associations, sponsored in the House by Representative Julio Robaina (R-Miami).
“There
should not be a chasm between condominium owners and their respective
associations,” said Representative Robaina, Chair of the House Select
Committee on Condominium Association Governance.
“This legislation addresses that issue and many more that will
alleviate many of the unit owners concerns.
It opens the lines of communication and allows for discussion and
resolution of differences. This legislation speaks to the concerns I have heard from
condominium residents and applies the suggestions that my fellow committee
members and I have made to address these issues.”
The
legislation presented in the House by Representative Robaina and merged with
legislation sponsored in the Senate by Senator Walter “Skip” Campbell (D-Tamarac):
- Creates
the Office of the Condominium Ombudsman to be located in the Division of
Land Sales, Condominiums, and Mobile Homes for administrative purposes;
- Creates
a seven member Advisory Council on Condominiums to assist in making
recommendations for improving the relationship between unit owners and their
association.
- Implements
the Frequently Asked Questions and Answers document when purchasing a condo
unit (Buyer Beware)
- Implements
grandfathered clauses for rental rights
