An
Open Letter To Senator Steven Geller
Senate
Committee On Comprehensive Planning |
February 10, 2003
Re: Our continuing conversation about CDD'S
Attn. Mr. Tom Yeatman,
To continue our dialog
about CDD'S, PUD'S, HOA'S and the other allowed abominations of law, I
would direct the attention of Senator Geller and yourself to the following
newspaper articles.
The Orlando Sentinel dated
Wednesday February 5, 2003 has 2 articles that must be brought to your
attention. In the Lake section which is section H, on page H1 is an article
written by Lauren Ritchie titled, "Lady Lake deal comes down to selfishness"
and the Robert Sargent jr. article "County OKs fire-service plan".
The three (3) commissioners
mentioned in these articles come from the "Villages" They live in
a CDD community which has a government separate from, and unaccountable
to local elected government. Now they are voting in local decision making
while at the same time living under a separate Government, and seem to
be doing this CDD governments biding!
We have a convoluted
form of government operating in this State. It's as if the rest of the
people live in the United States and live under one set of laws, and someone
governed by Chinese law, that is, by the mere fact of living in the "Villages"
part of the year have a vote on how our government operates, and how these
laws that they pass effect the rest of us living in the United States but
are of benefit to the Chinese, and the people of the United States are
required by law to help pay for it at their detriment!
The people in the "Villages"
and other CDD'S, PUD'S, HOA'S live in the United States, BUT are governed
by these rump CDD'S, PUD'S, HOA'S that this State has allowed to prosper
outside of any law of merit. Gentlemen, the tail is now wagging the dog.
This "Villages" CDD
can now reach out and effect the way Lady Lake makes law effecting
the "Villages" CDD!. This effect seems to be detrimental to the town of
Lady Lake! and surely must be UN-constitutional.
This "Villages" CDD
can now reach out and effect the way the County of LAKE makes law
effecting this "Villages" CDD! and surely must be UN-constitutional.
This effect seems to be detrimental
to the town of Lady Lake and the entire County of LAKE! and surely
must be UN-constitutional.
This "Villages" CDD management
government of UN-elected people seems to have reached out to some
of our elected officials at the State level and affected them also.
This "Villages" CDD management
government of UN-elected people will now use this victory as one more sales
gimmick to sell more homes and continue it's expansion plus increase it's
control over our local elected governments at the disadvantage of us all.
It is past time to
address this problem in a positive way without the input and/or the direction
of these developers and their lobbyist. They should be allowed no input
into how these laws are written as they have in the past. You know, being
allowed to write the laws that benefit themselves and having our
elected officials just rubber stamp them and sign them into law.
Sir, Correct this problem.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Miller
