OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR MIKE FASANO

RE:  Senate Bill S1196

Your comments in the Bradenton Herald: “Regulation rare for homeowners”

Dear Senator Mike Fasano:

With all due respect, you never cease to amaze me.  I still have the questionnaire you filled out when running for Senate in 2004.  You promised to support owner-friendly reforms.  However, over the years you have turned out to be one of the worst enemies of Florida's homeowners.

You are sponsoring bills that are clearly against the interest of Florida's homeowners, using your legislative power as part of the Senate leadership team to push this bill – twisting arms of fellow legislators to reach your goal.

But that is part of your modus operandi and really doesn’t surprise me any more.

What still surprises me is the fact that you are outright twisting the truth when asked about your sponsorship of S1196 by a reporter of the Bradenton Herald. You outright denied that your bill S1196 contains HOA (FS 720) provisions.  The reporter asked because of a fining situation in his area, where owners were fined $2,000 - $3,000 for frivolous violations. Your bill would allow enforcement of such fines again with the help of liens and foreclosures, destroying owner-friendly progress to HOA regulations made by Gov. Jeb Bush’s HOA Task Force in 2004.

The many outright bad HOA provisions contained in this bill you sponsor are an insult to every honest homeowner in Florida!

As much as I can understand that you don’t like your bad bills discussed in public, please be man enough to stand up for what you are trying to do to Florida’s homeowners!  You sponsor such bill -- You pay the price!
