Re:    Homeowners' Association Task Force

Dear Mr. Bergemann:

I would like to request your assistance by assigning a designee to represent the Cyber Citizens for Justice to serve on a task force being created to address homeowners' association issues.  The Governor's office and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation continue to receive numerous inquiries related to community and homeowners' associations.  Recognizing the variety of difficult issues many homeowners and homeowners' associations face, Governor Jeb Bush has asked that I form a task force to examine the issue.  Your organization's knowledge and experience in this area would be invaluable.

Julie Baker, DBPR Deputy Secretary, and William P. Sklar, a partner in the law firm of Foley & Lardner in West Palm Beach and a Professor at the University of Miami, will serve as co-chairs of the task force.  Our goal is to create a team that includes members from all groups affiliated with homeowners' associations.  As I'm sure you'll recognize, this will be a challenging and hopefully rewarding exercise.

Our organizational meeting will be held on September 24, 2003, from 1 pm to 5:00pm in the Northwood Center Board Room in Tallahassee.  We anticipate holding monthly meetings through January 2004.  Unfortunately we will not be able to reimburse members for travel costs. We would prefer to hold in person meetings, however we may conduct conference calls as needed.

I sincerely hope that you are willing and able to accept this invitation.  You may contact either Julie Baker or I with your designee or with any questions you may have at (850) 413-0755 or by e-mail at  [email protected] .
I look forward to working with you and the other members of the task force.

Sincerely,
(Signature)
Diane Carr
Secretary
