Delray Beach - A homeowners association is suing its builder, saying it owes the association money.

The Villa Borghese Homeowners Association is suing Ansca Homes in an effort to recoup about $280,000 in debts left when the association assumed control of the development, association President Stuart Diamond said.

"We are liable for those amounts of money and, of course, had to pass an assessment to raise funds," Diamond said.

The money is owed to independent vendors such as security workers and landscapers, Diamond said.

Ansca Homes has built many developments in the area, including Bellagio, Isola Bella, San Marco, Ponte Vecchio, Villa San Remo and Villa Portofino.
