Windermere Golf and Country Club is latest course to announce
closing.
Windermere Golf and Country Club is expected to close its 155-acre golf course
April 18 with plans to get approvals from Orange County for residential
development, according to club staff members.
Located on Butler Bay Drive, the club
property was purchased in 2011 for $2.1 million from Canadian
investor Bryan DeCunha, who also owns Dragon's Fire Golf Club in
Ontario. He could not be reached for comment.
Plans call for 95 single-family homes. The proposal met with
strong opposition from residents at a community in mid-October.
Last week, it failed to win support during the county's initial
review process — but the proposal will continue on to the
county's planning commission Nov. 19. |
