Villagers living near a pond drained twice this year by a
sinkhole, let their Community Development District supervisors know they don’t
want to lose their water view.
Village of Bonnybrook
residents who live near a pond on Pimlico Executive Golf Course
showed up Friday morning at the CDD 5 supervisor meeting.
They were concerned that supervisors might consider filling in
the pond that has been problematic for more than a decade. The
pond was drained by a sinkhole in February and again by another
sinkhole earlier this month.
Residents said they are concerned that the solution might be
filling in the pond.

“When you buy a home, you pay a premium for your view,” said Allan McFarlane,
who lives on Callaway Drive and has a home overlooking the pond.
However, residents were reassured that the ponds not only create aesthetic
value, but also play a critical role in stormwater management. The pond is in
place under a permit through the water management district.
Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management said the Pimlico pond has been
fixed and recent rain has filled it back up. |
