ORLANDO
- Developer Kevin Azzouz's lawsuit against MetroWest resident Larry Giles
recently ended, with Giles winning both the slander suit filed against him and
a countersuit to recoup damages.
It started in March 2007 when Azzouz's company, Veranda Partners, sued Giles
for criticizing on his Web site Azzouz's handling of the development. Giles'
attorneys called the suit a SLAPP, a suit brought to quell criticism. Azzouz
has said he was only defending his good name.
Orange County Judge George A. Sprinkle IV ruled in Giles' favor and awarded
him more than $181,000 in damages. It's unclear whether Giles will collect,
because Azzouz said recently that he is in the process of dissolving that
property-management company.
