More than 100 families given six months to find a new home as mobile home park announces closing |
CLEARWATER — More than 100 Clearwater families
have six months to find a new place to live.
Humphrey has lived at the park for two years. She and her husband have two kids and a third one on the way. "I've already been to the hospital multiple times. It got us off guard," she said. They all plan to fight the owner's decision. Some of them are talking to lawyers. But according to the law, the owner is well within his rights. Unfortunately, they don't have a homeowners association, because if they did the owner is required to give the HOA 45 days to make an offer to buy the property. "Nobody deserves this in this community," said Bancroft. The Florida Mobile Home Relocation Corporation has a relocation trust fund. The families can apply for money through the fund.
