BAY COUNTY – A SweetBay resident’s flag is causing some trouble in the
community.
|
Ricky Miller’s patriotism can be spotted
easily on his property.
Around three weeks ago, he put up an America 250th
Birthday-inspired flag in his yard.
When he went to get it approved by the Homeowners’
Association, his request was denied.
Miller says the SweetBay Homeowners’ Association only
permits official American and military flags to be flown.
But Miller is refusing to take the flag down.

After his request was denied, he made a Facebook post expressing his shock that
he was being told to take the flag down in a military community.
The post garnered strong reactions, with many commenting that he should keep
flying it.
News13 spoke with Miller today, who says, although he hasn’t gotten written up
yet, he’s willing to pay a $100 daily fine every day, until July 4, when he will
take the flag down.
