JERRY
MELVIN, FORMER DEAN OF THE HOUSE, CONTRACTS WITH CCFJ, Inc.
|
We
owners desperately need a strong Voice In Tallahassee to support our requests
for more consumer-friendly reforms. Despite
all our personal efforts, it is very obvious that an experienced former
legislator will help our cause immensely.
Jerry
Melvin served
as Executive for the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council in
his area and was Legislative Assistant to Congressman Bob Sikes in Washington
D.C. from 1956 to 1959
Jerry
has a long history of service in the Tallahassee House of Representatives. He
served from 1968 to1979 and from 1994 to 2002 when he was
not permitted to continue to run for the House, because of Florida’s
term-limit law.
We
feel that he is the right person to promote our interests and to help the many
legislators who are willing to fight for our rights!
PLEASE HELP!

Property owners living in developments with mandatory
associations need legal protection against arbitrary, biased and sometimes
illegal actions by their boards of directors and/or developers. Current
laws are inadequate to safeguard owners' rights.
Lack of enforcement of “consumer protection” laws
is the main problem. Numerous horror stories illustrate abuses suffered
by homeowners who have simply purchased their "dream home" and are then
confronted by homeowners' associations with irrational demands, fines or
foreclosure actions. Suddenly their DREAM HOME turns into a NIGHTMARE.
Cyber Citizens For Justice,
Inc. (CCFJ) is an Internet-based
consumer rights organization working for reform of Homeowner Association
(HOA) laws, Condominium Association laws and laws governing Community Development
Districts (CDDs). The vision of CCFJ is to eliminate abuses of these
laws and to make the experience of home ownership more equitable and consumer
friendly.
Property owners in associations must unite to make
our voices heard! Although the Community Association Institute falsely
claims to represent homeowners, it shows glaring "conflict of interest"
as it profits from associations. Imagine the IRS auditors claiming
to represent the TAXPAYER?
Florida statutes prove by their lack of enforcement
that "consumer protection" does not exist. Daily we read horror stories
about the abuses suffered by citizens who have simply purchased their dream
home, located in a nightmare association. Bitter, disillusioned and
broke our citizens have nowhere to turn. Human beings must not
be abused just because they want to own a home!
In the
2005 legislative session, more bills will
be filed that will be to the advantage of owners. These are the bills we have to
fight for!
Going
to court to fight for our rights against the deep pockets is not an option
for most of us. Even though our government created these out-of-control
associations, no government protection is available for us -- so far! That has
to change.
Experience during past sessions shows that necessary
reforms cannot be enacted without the aid of an experienced lobbyist. This
is where we need your help! With your financial aid we will be able
to represent our interests and to protect your rights.

Be creative: Ask your friends
and neighbors, pass the hat at the next meeting or just pass out flyers,
every little bit helps. We can't outspend the attorneys and the industry,
but we can give them a good run for the money!
It
will help your community!
