Bill Summary By
CCFJ Director for Legislative Affairs
Milena Macias, Esq.

HB 307 + SB 476 (Identical)

Finally, there are two companion bills that will finally language to Florida Statutes to provide our law enforcement professionals the accord they deserve.

These bills state that community associations may not prohibit a law enforcement officer from parking his or her law enforcement vehicle in an area where the parcel owner, or tenant, guest, or invitee of the parcel owner, otherwise has a right to park.

We should support this bill in addition to the projection of safety and deterrence of crime, and allowing law enforcement professionals to quickly respond to emergencies, this is in accord with the opinion written on June 16, 2005, by then-Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist that lawenforcement vehicles are not considered commercial vehicles (see attached).
