An
Opinion By Jan Bergemann

I didn’t believe my eyes when I saw
the latest flyer published by the two leading “ladies” of the Broward
Coalition: Patti Lynn and Mary Macfie.
Make no mistake: The only people they
can unleash their lawyers on are their neighbors, people who live within
the dictatorial reach of these two ladies. The rest of Florida will be
safe from the nonsense these two ladies are coming up with. And --
considering the many complaints I am getting from owners living in
associations that are part of the Broward Coalition -- they have been
doing this long before they published this flyer!
The headline of this flyer would make
for a real good laugh – if it wouldn’t be so sad. But this is exactly
what this community association system creates: Dictators who rule –
with the help of attorneys – with an iron fist.
Remember, these are the same two
ladies who are fighting side by side with the attorneys of Becker &
Poliakoff and Kaye Bender Rembaum against the owner-friendly
HOA REFORM BILL and
FAIR ELECTIONS
in Homeowners’ Associations.
I guess they know that fair elections would end their rule over the
community associations of parts of Broward County!
Here was
the flyer of the Broward Coalition headlined “Unleash
The Lawyers” which I removed because of the letter from
the law firm of Frank Weinberg Black claiming that this flyer
was copyrighted.

Here is my response to this letter I
e-mailed to attorney McTague on Monday, November 24, 2014:
Your file No. 9990.000
Mr. McTague,
I am in receipt of your letter dated November
17, 2014. Please understand that I will not drive 14 miles to
pick up the certified copy of this letter.
I wasn’t aware that the contents of an e-mail
sent to “undisclosed recipients” – unsolicited – is – in your
opinion -- copyrighted. But since I honestly feel that this
issue isn’t worth fighting over I will remove the Broward
Coalition Flyer headlined “Unleash The Lawyers” from the CCFJ
website. Please note that there is no copyright symbol on the
flyer in question.
I will replace it with a scanned copy of your
letter which just proves the point I was trying to make with my
posted opinion.
As to “false statements”? Please understand
that I get more complaints from owners living in associations
being part of the Broward Coalition than from any other area in
Florida. And if you look at the bills the Broward Coalition
supported and opposed in the last decade you might understand
why I have certain opinions.
