Pembroke Pines, FL JUNE 25, 2005 It is important that
the welfare and lifestyle of owners living in mandated properties be
protected. In Florida where
seniors come to enjoy their retirement after working much of their lives
up North, the protection of these retirees should be of utmost importance.
We need laws and
enforcement to protect these financially vulnerable seniors against
exploitation by unscrupulous board members, attorneys and their cronies.
Also, many other naïve newcomers have purchased property without
fully understanding the legal documents associated with that property. There is a
frightening lack of accountability by the association leaders.
Residents need leaders who will be accountable for their decisions
and actions. Sometimes it seems
that the main goal of these board members, management companies and law
firms is to get rich at the expense of the owners who are in need of
better protection. In our opinion, it is
the task of this Council to listen to the owners, listen to our problems,
and try to find solutions for the many problems we face daily in our
communities. The statutes and
regulations should be written in clear and understandable language to
avoid costly lawsuits most owners just can’t afford. This Council was
created to help the legislators recognize the many shortcomings of the
existing statutes and regulations and to suggest serious improvements. We ask this Council to work on these goals, important
for many citizens of Florida. Thank
you for listening to our concerns! |
